Heal the past for a happier future.
Our perception of the world and how we relate to others is based largely on our accumulated experiences.
Early experiences are crucial to the development of a child's sense of self, so childhood abuse can have far-reaching consequences into adulthood.
Sexual abuse is "an unwanted act of a sexual nature" and can be one of the most damaging experiences a child can have.
This type of abuse includes:
• rape
• unwanted kissing or fondling
• third-party participation
• the use of violence to impose sexual activity
• sexual harassment
• exposure to pornography
Healing is possible.
Family Counselling and Support Services offers a comprehensive program for women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse.
Our program is designed to help women overcome the trauma of their past through coping methods and skills development.
Our goal is to reduce overwhelming negative feelings and isolation and to increase self-esteem.
Living with traumatic events of the past is difficult. Taking steps toward a more optimistic future is a precious gift you give to yourself.
When you need us we will be there.
If you suffer from any of the following, due to childhood sexual abuses, consider joining our program:
• sexual difficulties
• sexual promiscuity or avoidance
• anger
• addictions
• feelings of powerlessness or victimization
• low self-esteem
• self-harm behaviour
• mistrust of others
• feelings of disconnection from others
• frequent 'spacing out' or dissociation
• anxiety and panic
• difficulties in relaxing
• a need to be in control
• suicide attempts
• flashbacks
• nightmares
Family Counselling and Support Services is committed to working with you to achieve self-healing. We help sexual abuse survivors develop the tools they need to live a more satisfying life.
You will be invited to attend a healing group, sharing experiences and advice with others. There may also be an opportunity to work directly with a qualified counsellor.

A strong will to change is the first step.
Patience
Change is a slow but rewarding process.
